Pakistani policemen take position during a militant attack on a police station in Peshawar on February 24, 2012

Islamabad, Pakistan (CNN) -- Two police officers were killed and six others were wounded after an attack Friday morning in northwest Pakistan, police said.
Three suicide attackers stormed a police station in Peshawar and blew themselves up after an exchange of gunfire, said Imtiaz Altaf, a city police chief.
About 60 officers were in the station at the time of the explosion.
The attacks were retaliation for some recent police raids, Altaf said. Mian Iftikhar Hussain, the provincial information minister, said the Taliban could be behind the attack.
Militants have been targeting security forces, police and government supporters in recent attacks in the city .
On Thursday, an explosion at a bus stand killed 12 people and injured more than 30 others in Peshawar.
