News Gilani asks militants to shun violence

QUETTA: Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani appealed that the terrorists should give up their activities and come forward to establish peace in the region, Geo News reported. He was addressing the passing-out ceremony of Pak Army in Quetta.

Prime Minister, Yousuf Raza Gilani graced the occasion as a chief guest, while the Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaque Pervaiz Kayani was also present along with other civil and military officials.

Speaking at the occasion, PM Gilani said that funds have been provided for the ongoing projects of Balochistan as the present government is determined to take steps for the development and progress of the province.

He also appealed that the terrorists groups should come forward to facilitate peace process.

The PM saluted the Pak Army for its efforts to protect the borders and sovereignty. He said that the army has protected the future of the country by fighting against terrorism.

PM Gilani assured the Baloch nationals that their interest would be protected and the government has chalked out a plan to provide 20,000 jobs for the youth.

Five thousand jawans were recruited from Balochistan on the special directive of the COAS General Kayani and after their regular training a passing-out parade was held at the EME Parade Ground here.

It may be recalled that earlier also five thousand soldiers were recruited from Balochistan by allowing special concessions in respect of their age and qualification.
