There are three types of mehndi. Arabic with large flowery patterns, Mughlai with geometric shapes and delicate filling, Marwari with motifs like peacocks, doli, bride and bridegrooms and kalash etc.
* Keep it on for 4 hours till it is fully dry.
* Apply a mixture of lemon and sugar, at least twice, to the dry area.
* Make sure that the sugar is proportionate or else it will make the mehndi patchy.
* It is better not to use sugar instead of using too much of it.
* Remove the dry Mehendi and do not wash it for 24 hours.
* Avoid using harsh soaps for 48 hours.
* Apply oil or keep the hand over the fumes of hot clove on a tava to darken the mehndi.
