Makhani Chicken Handi
NOTE For this recipe, you will need a “miti ki haandi” Ask the vendor for a “puki hui miti handi”.
Ingredients for Step 1
1& ½ kg chicken pieces
1 cup yogurt
Adrak 1 inch piece julianne cut (i.e. long, thin strands)
Laung 10
Black pepper whole 10
Salt to taste
Method for step 1
1. Put 2 tbs oil into the handi. Add the adrak , laung & black pepper. Sautee for couple of mins & then add the chicken. Mix well (Bhoon).add salt & then the yogurt. Cover & cook for about 20 mins.
Ingredients for step 2
Butter ½ tikya
Tomato Puree ½ can or 4 blended tomatoes
Haldi ½ tsp
Lal miirch 1 – 1& ½ tsp
Lemon Juice 2 tbs
Kasuri Methi 5 tsp
Cream 1 cup
Hara Dhanya & hari mirch
Method for step 2
1. After the chicken has cooked for about 20 mins, take it out of the handi.
2. Then put the butter in the handi along with the tomato puree, kasuri methi, haldi, lal mirch, & lemon juice.Mix (Bhoon ) for a few minutes & then add the chicken & chopped hari mirch.
3. Cook this for a while & then add the cream. Cover.Cook a couple of more mins. Dish out & garnish with hara dhanya, hari mirch & adrak.
