NATURAL AND SOCIAL SCIENCES ENDOMWMENT FUND.
A meeting of the Board of Trustees (NASSEF) Hazara University was held on June 04,2007 in the Conference Room.
The meeting started with the recitation of verses from Holy Quran by Prof. Qazi Rahseed Ahmad. The chair welcomed all the worthy members who had traveled long distances to grace this meeting with their kind presence. The Chair introduced the participants. He paid special tributes to Senator, Azam Khan Swati, and Mr. Ajmal Khan, former Vice Chancellor Gomal University for their valuable contributions to the promotion of education. Elaborating the aims and objectives of the Endowment Fund the Chair observed that the establishment if an endowment fund was a requirement of Hazara University Act. The fund shall be used to promote research and development in the university by providing financial support to deserving scholars for research projects. The University had credited and amount of Rs. 55 millions in the Endowment Fund and some of the amount from the interest of the deposits in Banks. Mr. Azam Khan Swati also donated a sum of rupees 5 lac for the fund, which reflected this deep interest in the welfare of the University. The total amount after crediting the profit will shoot up to Rs. 60,752,500/-. The scholarships shall also be awarded to the members of faculty for higher studies and specialization so as to make their specialized academic and research services of eminence available at the Campus. Its will also facilitate to secure technology, equipment, books journals and periodicals to promote research culture in the University. Hazara University has already sent 27 scholars for PhD under the HEC faculty development programme and some other schemes.
Senator, Azam khan Swati, Mr. Ajmal Khan and Ms. Shah Bano senator Hazara University, appreciated the idea of enhancing the academic competence by exposing them to modern learning in the advanced countries. The management was congratulated for their important step aiming at increasing the teaching potential of the teachers in the fast changing modern world where they were expected to pull-up their students to the blessing to modern advancement in research and quality of learning. On a query from a member the explained that award of scholarships for higher studies are granted by observing the rules of higher Education commission in letter and sprit. The Chair told the meeting that Hazara University had signed several MoUs with the five star Universities UK to facilitate our scholars for full time higher studies on subsidized rates and also split Ph.D programmes. The holding of oral exam/via at Hazara University will ensure the return of awardees to their own country to serve with their latest acquired potential in research and academics.
