TIPS TO TREAT AND PREVENT BLACKHEADS:

A blackhead, which is also called a comedone, is a plug in a hair follicle that is made up of dead skin cells and solidified oil produced by the sebaceous glands It looks like a tiny black dot on the skin that makes the skin look dirty, and if it is not removed, a pimple may appear.

Treatment:

...1.Exfoliation should be included in skin care regimen by people who suffer from blackheads. Exfoliation gels or creams are available over-the-counter and are safe to use. Avoid excessive scrubbing.
2. Blackhead removal strips are available in the market, they are adhesive strips which can be “glued” to affected areas and are left there for some time. When the strip is removed, blackheads come out with it.
3.Blackheads can be removed by health care professionals, avoid extracting blackheads by yourself as it can lead to scarring.
4.Dermatologists also recommend tretinoin as it helps slough off dead skin cells. It can have some side effects though.
5.Skin peels can also be used.

Prevention:

#Cleanse Face Regularly:
Wash your face with a mild cleanser when you wake up in the morning and before you go to bed at night. If you do something that makes you break out in a sweat, wash your face afterward. Wash your face, and then wipe it with an astringent. Apply a gentle exfoliating mask to your skin once a week to slough off dead skin cells that clog pores. If your skin is very oily, use a clay mask to deep clean pores.

#Handle Skin Gently:
Do not use heavy pressure on the skin when cleansing, as doing so will encourage the sebaceous glands to produce more oil that can create a blackhead. Make sure bike helmets and sports accessories do not rub against the skin and stimulate the oil glands. Massage your skin with a soft touch when exfoliating your skin.

#Use Oil-Free Cosmetics:
Purchase cosmetics that will not contribute to clogged pores and apply them to a cleansed face. These products will be labeled "oil-free," or "noncomedogenic." Cosmetics that contain oil act as glue and make skin cells adhere to one another and create a blockage in the pores.

#Keep Other Oils Off Skin:
Get into the habit of keeping your hands off your face as much as possible to avoid spreading the oils from your hands to the skin on your face. Wash your hair often to keep it as oil-free as possible. On oily-hair days that resulted because you did not have time to wash your hair, pull your hair back and away from your face.
